OK now here's a sheepish apology for not posting for so long. I admit I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to blogging but I've made a resolution (a couple of months in advance of new year) to try and catch up on blogging all the weddings and shoots we've been doing.
So, here's a peek at Thais & James' pre-wedding shoot in York last month. They live in the US but came over here to get married as James is a Yorkshire lad and they met in York where Thais was studying. We revisited their old haunts for their pre wedding shoot on a glorious Autumn day a week before their wedding (of which more to come in later post - promise!)
Anyway here are a few of my fave pics from their pre-wedding shoot:
A few faves from Michaela & Neil's wedding yesterday. Such a relaxed and fun day. Loved it! Px
Just a few images from Hannah & Vincent's shoot last week. Px
Last week I was back up in Cumbria for the first of a busy schedule of workshops this year. I was up for the 3rd day speaking about Adobe Lightroom and how we use it to improve our workflow. We had the lovely Bex to take some images which we then used to show how the develop the images and to start creating your own style. If you want to check out Aspire Photography Training and future dates for this workshop - head over to their website. -->> www.aspirephotographytraining.co.uk
Just a sneaky peek at a few images from Nancy & Tim's wedding at Rudding Park Hotel. This was a great wedding to kick start 2013. It was such a fun day. These images are just a few from the ceremony.
We don't usually take on weddings between Christmas and new year. We try and spend that time together as a family playing with our toys and gorging on leftovers We made an exception, however, for Charlotte & Lee.
We photographed Charlotte's brother James's wedding to Kate a few years ago and since then I've done a family shoot with them and got to know the family well. They're such a lovely bunch of people that we jumped at the chance of photographing Charlotte and Lee's big day.
It was pretty cold and wet but Swinton Park and the church in Masham looked so lovely and festive and everyone had that warm cosy glow.
It was such a great day and such a privilege to be invited to share it.
Take a look at some of the images and watch the highlight slideshow below.
2013 is now upon us and we are already looking forward to our first weddings of the year. One of the first up will be Nancy & Tim in February. Back in late November we met up in Lincoln to do their engagement shoot. This is the place they grew up so it was nice to walk round what is a beautiful city.
We would just like to wish everyone a bright and happy new year for 2013.
2012 has been such an amazing year for us and it has been a privilege to capture so many weddings up and down the country. All of them have been filled with so much joy, fun and above all love.
We cannot wait to get started in 2013 and do it all over again with some more lovely couples.
Love
Phil & Lou xxxx
Just a sneaky peek at a few images from Charlotte & Lee's wedding at Swinton Park Hotel. This was our final wedding of 2012 and a great way to finish another amazing year for us.
Another amazing autumn wedding to report. This time it was Liz & Leo's at the Hospitium in York.
The weather was once again fantastic and we managed to get some great shots of Liz and Leo among the stunning colours of the museum gardens. LIz and Leo were another great couple to work with and we had such a fun time photographing their wedding. Here are a few pictures from their day.
We had the honour of photographing Helen & Mark's wedding at one of our favourite venues, Allerton Castle, back in September.
It was an amazing day and Helen & Mark were such a fun couple to work with. There were so many beautiful details to photograph and the hugely talented Helen even made here own wedding dress which looked stunning.
Here are a few images of their day along with their highlight slideshow.
We have been going through some of the images from the last few weddings and just had to put this up. Taken from Helen & Mark's wedding back in September. Love the Balloons!
A few pictures from Liz & Leo's pre wedding shoot which I did down in London a few months ago. We had a great time on the South Bank and we're really looking forward to their up and coming wedding.
Another of our fantastic 2012 weddings now. This is Gemma and Zac's big day back in March. Theirs was a wonderful Jewish wedding at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
It was such a fantastic day and a joy to photograph. Check out some of their images:
This week I was back with Aspire Photography Training. As part of the A to Z Business workshop we spend time going through digital workflow and an introduction to Adobe Lightroom. We had a great bunch of great photographers who were wanting to improve the overall focus of their business. I was their to discuss my digital workflow based around my use of Adobe Lightroom. Since the world has gone digital it can be very daunting for people new to photography on how they managed / process & archive their images. Lightroom is a great piece of software that can help you with this.
Although the day was mainly classroom based we still had the opportunity to go out and shoot with the lovely Emma. Luke who was in the background watching somehow also got roped into having his picture taken. Love the strong look that he has. We then used those images to go through a live demo of taking the image from camera to an image that is ready to print or in this case put up on the web for a website / blog or in any form of social media such as Facebook. Below are some of the images we processed on the day. There are two versions of each image one colour and one black & white. At the very end is a slideshow of all the images from the day. Once again thanks to the lovely Rachel for helping us out.
Below is a slideshow of all the images from the day.
OK time for us to blog another wedding, this time Kathryn & James. They were married back in April at one of our favourite venues, Allerton Castle. James is a fellow wedding photographer so the pressure was really on for us to deliver.
Kate & James were a great couple to work with - check out some of their images from the day.
OK big catchup time. We're just in the process of moving all our websites over to a new system so I thought I'd update the blog with 2012's weddings.
Starting with Sarah & Matthew's way back in March. Their wedding will be featuring soon in Yorkshire Bride magazine so I thought I'd share a few pictures of their wedding day at Goldsborough Hall.
Yesterday I spent another great day up at Aspire Photography Training. The photographers belonged to Group 37 of the Bespoke Program. Focus yesterday was all about weddings and how I prepare for and shoot weddings. We have the lovely couple Becca & Chris to photograph. In the morning we went out and did a pre-weedding shoot with them followed by a wedding shoot in the afternoon. The weather was kind to us ( just! ). As always the day was put together by Rachel who as always kept me on track.
Below are some of my favourite images from the day and a slideshow and the foot of the page.
Not a week has passed and I find myself back with Aspire Photography Training. This time it was to spend time with a bunch of great photographers who were on the Adobe Lightroom course. I was their for a day to discuss my digital workflow based around my use of Adobe Lightroom. Although the day was mainly classroom based we still had the opportunity to go out and shoot with the lovely Georgia. We then used those images to go through a live demo of taking the image from camera to an image that is ready to print or in this case put up on the web for a website / blog or in any form of social media such as Facebook. Below are some of the images we processed on the day. Once again thanks to the lovely Rachel for helping us out.
Last week I headed on down to my home town of London to photograph Helen & Mark. This had been planned for a while and the forecast at the beginning of the week was for monsoon type rain all day. The forecasters for once got it right and it was just a little wet to say the least. I met up with Helen and Mark at a patisserie on Piccadilly and after a lovely coffee we bravely headed out to take some pictures. I have to say these guys fully embraced the day and were fantastic as we headed all round The West End. Starting off where they first met at Green Park Station. We finished the day around Brixton and the ace old market with some great coffee shops and a cafe that does DIY Toast with toasters on each table. A genius idea I think!. Helen & Mark are getting married and the gorgeous Allerton Castle back in Yorkshire and we love photographing weddings there.
We chatted about their day and things that they have planned over another coffee and cake – needless to say it sounds as if it’s going to be a great day and Lou & I are really looking forward to it. Let’s hope the weather will be a lot better.

Back at the end of January I spent a lovely cold crisp winters day with Sarah & Matthew at the Sculpture Park for their pre wedding shoot. This is a lovely place I take the kids for long walks and to admire the art work scattered all around the park. After a coffee and hot chocolate to warm ourselves up we all got wrapped up and headed out. Both Sarah & Matthew we great and loved the place. They are getting married at Goldsborough Hall in March and will be lovely to be back there so soon after the last wedding we did at the end of December.
I spent last weekend down in London and whilst I was there I met up with Gemma & Zac for their pre wedding shoot. I’m originally a London boy and love the city so it’s always a treat to go there.
I met up with Gemma and Zac on the South Bank for their shoot. It was a lovely sunny day – albeit freezing! We were all wrapped up warm though and we managed to get some great shots of the two of them looking loved up and cool by the river. The light was great and I got to play with the low sun on a few shots which gives them a vintage fashiony feel I think.
Gemma and Zac are getting married up in Yorkshire in March so keep checking back for a wedding report from their day.
